I’m having this gathering tonight, right? This jewelry party that I only agreed to so I could help out a friend. So far, I have one person confirmed to attend. ONE. Some people have valid excuses. You have to work, your car’s not running, that’s fine, I’m an understanding gal.
The problem is two individuals. I have one friend who says “I’m going to try to be there!” Which is complete bollocks and everybody knows it. She never goes anywhere. Never to anything anyone has ever invited her to. Not out to the bar when everyone else goes. Know why? Because she has an insane fiance. A complete jackass. A man who doesn’t allow her to do anything that’s not under his watchful eye. If it’s her choice to be with him, fine. If she wants to live that life, all the power to her. Just don’t fucking lie to me and say you’re going to try to make it.
I have another that sent me this email: “it is up in the air right now… got some shit I need to take care of…” Oh really? That’s how important I am to you that “some shit” comes before me?
Man up, bitch. Tell me you don’t want to come. Walk your ass three cubes down and have the balls to actually say to me, “Yeah, I’ve got better things to do.” Insinuating that you may or may not make it depending on whether or not someone gives you a better offer is insulting to me.
I know this thing isn’t important. I know people are broke. I’m willing to accept any number of excuses for why people don’t want to come. But saying that you’re going to try to make it and then just not showing up is just weak.
